Multiple ways to serve families in Houston
Assemble Hygiene Kits 9/24/17In response to the great needs that have arisen from recent hurricanes we are offering an opportunity…..
WHAT: Assembling Hygiene Kits to be distributed by UMCOR to victims of the recent Hurricanes, and painting “Stars of Hope”. * WHEN: Sunday September 24th after the 10:00 service. WHERE: Fellowship Hall LIGHT LUNCH WILL BE AVAILABLE Join us after the service…... the supplies will be ready for all ages to help make the Kits and Paint the stars! The items for the kits (soap, toothbrush, towel, etc.) will be purchased with money that has been given in the children’s offering and we will be packing them into ziplock bags. How great for the kids to see that their offering donations are being used to help other families and they are actually making it happen! Thousands of these kits have been distributed already and UMCOR is in need of many more. *In addition, we will be painting “Stars of Hope”. These are 1-foot wooden stars that can be painted with inspirational words, messages and designs. These Stars of Hope will be sent to the communities that are in the immediate and long-term aftermath of tragedy. They will serve as beacons of hope and compassion for all to see. I apologize for the short notice, but we want to get these Kits out as soon as possible because there is such a great need. Please try to make time to participate in this important opportunity to reach outside of our congregation and show God’s love. Let me know if you have questions! The other group worked to stabilize the home of a recent widow tarping holes in her roof and beginning to tarp the exterior walls. They also removed moldy drywall from a bedroom.
