2. The Last Supper -Mark 14:12-31, 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 The final meal that Jesus shared with his followers will be depicted with a Seder meal. Jesus blessed and broke the bread and said, “Take, this is my body.” Taking the chalice, he said, “This is my blood, God’s new covenant poured out for many people for the forgiveness of sins.” 3. Jesus Prays in the Garden -Mark 14:32-42 A lush assortment of plants and flowers will line this garden where Jesus prayed to his Father. Being deeply grieved, Jesus threw himself on the ground and prayed, “Abba, Father, for you all things are possible, remove this cup from me; yet, not what I want, but what you want.” 4. Betrayal by Judas and the Arrest -Luke 22:47-53 Armor, helmet, sword, pouch and money, are all items that Judas would have held prior to his unfaithfulness to Jesus. Judas betrayed Jesus with a kiss and for 30 pieces if silver. The soldiers arrested Jesus. In defense, a disciple cut off the ear of a soldier, but Jesus restored the ear. Jesus was taken away by the guards. 5. Jesus if Denied by Peter -Luke 22:54-62 Peter was a committed follower of Jesus and never believed that he could turn his back on Him. Three persons accused Peter of being a follower of Jesus, which he denied each time. He heard a rooster crow and remembered his Master’s words, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” Peter wept. 6. The Crown and the Cross -Matthew 27:27-37 The soldiers put a scarlet robe on Jesus and placed a crown of thorns on his head. Simon of Cyrene help carry the cross of Jesus to Golgotha, the Place of the Skull. 7. Jesus is Crucified -Matthew 27:38-56 On the cross, Jesus assigned care for his mother, forgave, spoke to God and breathed his last breath. The sky darkened and the earth quaked. The guards said, “Truly, this was the Son of God.” 8. Jesus Is Placed in the Tomb -Matthew 27:57-61 Joseph of Arimathea requested the body, wrapped it in linen and laid it in a new tomb. Pilate ordered that the tomb be secured. 9. Jesus Is Risen -Luke 24:1-11 The Women saw that the tomb was empty. They heard the words, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen.” Jesus’ resurrection into heaven and His visits to the apostles sparked amazing dedication and faith!
