North Scottsdale United Methodist Church would like to celebrate the milestone of a new school year with a blessing, mission work project, party and yummy donuts from the BITES DONUTS FOOD TRUCK! NSUMC will be offering blessings on students, educators, their mobile devices and backpacks during their worship service on Sunday, Aug. 14th @ 10:00 AM! The following Sunday (8/21) will include a “Mission Project Packing.” Then on Aug. 28th NSUMC will host a “Welcome Back to Sunday School” party complete with activities, and FREE donuts.
Back-to-School Event #1 FREE backpack tags and goodie bags will be given out on Aug. 14th to all students that attend the service @ 10:00 AM. The backpack tag is constant reminder that God is with the students in their daily life and that their church family will be praying for them throughout the year. Back-to-School Event #2 Mission project of packing donated school supplies into backpacks will occur on Aug 21st @ 10:00 AM. Don't have any students at home? All are invited to be a blessing to other less fortunate children by donating backpacks and school supplies or by making an ONLINE DONATION. The gifts will be blessed and distributed to Vista del Camino Recreation Center to help families that need extra support at the beginning of a school year. Vista del Camino is a recreational facility in south Scottsdale that offers after-school care, clothing, food and financial support to less fortunate children. Sunday, Aug. 21st @ 10:00AM Are you a great bargain shopper? This is the best time of the year to purchase children's school supplies. Some supplies are as low as 25 cents! If you have the time, talents and gifts to purchase back-to-school supplies, we would greatly appreciate your help! All of the backpacks and school supplies that we collect will be packed by our Sunday School students and then delivered to VISTA del CAMINO RECREATION CENTER in south Scottsdale. For those that did not send a student off to school we welcome your donation of back to school supplies as well as a financial donation that will be blessed, packed by our Sunday School Students and shared with Vista del Camino Recreation Center. Please deliver all supplies to NSUMC by Aug. 21st so we can host our Mission Project PACKING Party on Aug. 21st @ 10AM to get the donated supplies ready for less fortunate students. |

North Scottsdale United Methodist Church would like to celebrate the milestone of a new school year with a blessing, party and yummy pretzels from the MUSTACHE PRETZEL FOOD TRUCK! NSUMC will be offering blessings on students, educators, their mobile devices and backpacks during their worship service on Sunday, September 12th @ 10:00AM PLUS a “Welcome Back to Sunday School” party complete with a balloon artist, photo booth, crafts and gourmet pretzels. For those that did not send a student off to school, they welcome your financial donation that will be blessed and shared with Vista del Camino.
FREE backpack tags will be given to all that attend the service and party. The backpack tag is constant reminder that God is with the students of our community in their daily life and that their church family will be praying for them throughout the year. The Sunday School PARTY will include a balloon artist (making whale balloon art and more), Jonah crafts, photo booth, and FREE PRETZELS from Mustache Pretzel Company FOOD TRUCK to the first 50 students. We are politely asking all families to wear a mask and we would greatly appreciate your support. Don't have any students at home? All children are invited stop by North Scottsdale United Methodist church on Saturday August 8th, 2020 between 9AM-12noon @ the FREE Blessing of the Backpack SELF-SERVE backpack tag station. These tags will be located in a special back-to-school container on the NSUMC patio. Your student is invited to select their favorite tag and attach it to their 2020 backpack.
The backpack tags will have been blessed prior to Saturday by our Senior Pastor the Reverend David Rennick. The backpack tag is constant reminder that God is with the students of our community in their daily life and that their church family will be praying for them throughout the year. NSUMC will celebrate the students new school year during service on Sunday, Aug. 9th 10AM ONLINE.
Backpacks will be used a little differently this year and mobile devices will be added to the student's supply list. Most students will begin online and need to keep all of their supplies ready for when their in-person classroom resumes. The backpacks will help students keep organized at home and then when in-person class begins they will still have their supplies ready to go! We also encourage donations of 8”x11” white boards and Expo dry erase markers for students online classroom. The white boards give the teacher a way to view answers quickly and also give students immediate feedback and support while online.

Blessing of the Backpack Milestone & Concert
Sunday, August 11th, 2019 beginning @ 10am
North Scottsdale United Methodist Church would like to send children back to school with a bag tag, blessing and free concert! For those that are not sending student off to school, you are welcome to donate a new backpack that will be blessed and distributed to Vista del Camino. NEW THIS YEAR, N.S.U.M.C. will host a free coffee shop concert featuring Brittany Glenn in their fellowship hall and a COFFEE FOOD TRUCK in the parking lotbeginning at 11:30am.
All children are invited to bring their backpack to church on Sunday August 11th, 2019 so both they and their backpack can be blessed at the 10:00 a.m. worship service. Backpacks are our children’s constant companions as they go about their school days, and the pastors of N.S.U.M.C. would like to bless them. After the blessing they will give each child a tag to put on their backpack to remind them that God is with them in their daily life and that their church family will be praying for them throughout the year. Roosevelt St Scottsdale, AZ 85257) that offers after school care, clothing, food and school supplies to less fortunate children. Following the 10am service N.S.U.M.C. will host a coffee house concert by Brittany Glenn. Glenn has been featured on the Today Show, performed on CMT’s Country Countdown, has released two singles and one EP album. She has Oklahoma roots but she is a L.A. transplant. Her second album is due out this summer. Glenn will perform from 11:30am-12:30pm. The concert is free and open to the public. The community is also invited to participate in the backpack mission project by donating a new backpack or school supplies. North Scottsdale United Methodist Church celebrates the love of God through Christ by having two services on Sunday (8:30 am and 10:00 am). Sunday school and the nursery are available for newborns through twelve year-old children at both services. Youth Sunday school (grades six through twelve) have Sunday school during the 10:00 a.m. service. Some of the other children and youth activities include; children’s choir, volleyball, mission trips, small groups, festivals and youth groups. N.S.U.M.C. also offers adult Bible studies, men and women’s groups, choirs, retreats, holiday events, turn-around trips, mission trips and more.
