Make & Take Ornaments Sunday, December 17th, 2023 --- 11:00 a.m. North Scottsdale United Methodist church invites you to indulge in a Festive Hot Cocoa Bar & Ornament Making on Sunday, December 17th, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. This event is free and open to the community. After experiencing the enchanting "The Christmas Light" concert at 10:00 a.m. in the NSUMC sanctuary, please join them for a delightful Hot Cocoa Bar reception in the adjacent fellowship hall. The Hot Cocoa bar invites the visitor to a cozy array of delights, starting with rich, steaming cocoa as its centerpiece. Surrounding this warm indulgence will be an assortment of toppings: fluffy marshmallows ready to melt into creamy goodness, a sprinkling of chocolate shavings for that extra touch of decadence, a dollop of whipped cream to crown the cup with sweetness, and perhaps the selection of a dash of cinnamon or peppermint for a delightful twist. Alongside these one will find, an ensemble of stirrers - candy canes, cinnamon sticks, or even pretzel rods - await to add both flavor and fun. And let's not forget the variety of Christmas cookies and pastries, inviting a delightful pairing with every sip. Savor steaming hot cocoa adorned with all the fixings while crafting your own ornaments at the "make & take" station. As a special treat, "make & take" ornaments and holiday cards will be available to share the warmth of the season with your loved ones. Crafting homemade ornaments is a whimsical journey into creativity, where each moment becomes a canvas for ones imagination to flourish. From gathering the materials to the final embellishments, it's a joyful exploration of colors, textures, and personal flair. There's an enchanting thrill in shaping raw materials into something magical. The process isn't just about the end result; it's about the laughter shared, the anticipation of seeing an idea come to life, and the sheer delight of creating something uniquely yours. With every stroke and every detail, making a homemade ornament is an uplifting celebration of craftsmanship and the pure joy of crafting heartfelt Christmas treasure. 2022 EVENT Highlights North Scottsdale United Methodist Church invites the community to a “Christmas Ornament & Caroling” Event on Sunday, Dec. 4th at 11:00AM (following the 10:00AM service). The event will host the music of NSUMC Christmas carolers while attendees design a "Make & Take" Christmas Ornament and sip hot cocoa. This event is FREE and open to the public.
NSUMC artist-in-residence; Janet Flournoy, will share her skills and artistic direction in assisting families in creating nativity silhouette "make-&-take" ornaments for their Christmas tree. Some of the materials that will be supplied include: clear ornaments, decals, labels, glitter, poly-foam snow and straw to help make each ornament into your family's Christmas 2022 ornament masterpiece! NSUMC Chancel choir members, UWF ladies and children will lead attendees in Christmas carols and traditional Christmas songs as folks design their holiday ornaments. Some of the seasonal favorites will include: Jingle Bells by our children and youth, Winter Wonderland and Silent Night by our Adult Chancel choir and Santa Claus is Coming to Town by the NSUMC United Women in Faith. While attendees are creating an ornament for their tree and singing carols, NSUMC will also be hosting a Hot Cocoa Bar. The bar will include hot cocoa and all the "fixings" plus Christmas cookies. To add a twist, NSUMC will have “To-Go” hot cocoa and holiday cards for everyone to take home and share with friends and family. This is a fun way to share the holiday cheer! The four weeks prior to Christmas is the season of Advent, a time when people prepare for the coming of the Christ child. NSUMC would like to help you and your family prepare for the season by providing art elements to inspire creativity to help decorate the bough of your 2022 Christmas evergreen! This is a perfect time for families to join in on the excitement of the season. NSUMC will supply all of the crafting necessities and BONUS parents will enjoy that the mess will be left at church not on their kitchen floor! |
